Good News for Taos Native Writer Alum Oscar Hokeah!

A belated congratulations to Oscar Hokeah, who won the Native Writer Award for the Conference in 2008.

During the 2009 Conference, Oscar worked on a story, then called "Got Per Cap," in Pam Houston's workshop. (That's him on the far left of the class photo, below.)

It's got a new title ("Our Day") but that same story was recently published by American Short Fiction! The story deals with Oscar's experience growing up in his Kiowa community, and it's his first major journal publication.
