"Four Poets Respond" at 516 Arts, Featuring Valerie Martinez!

Valerie Martinez

Happy 2012, everyone! There's a lot we're excited about in the coming year...and here's one really cool event to start us off:

It's called "Four Poets Respond," and it was founded by Taos Instructor Valerie Martinez in 2009 as an opportunity for women poets to respond to contemporary art dealing with issues that relate to women.

This year, the performance--which is coordinated with the 12th Annual Tricklock Revolutions Theatre Festival--will take place at 7 p.m. on January 18th at 516 Arts, on Central Avenue in downtown Albuquerque. Valerie will be joined by the poets Lauren Camp, Jasmine Cuffee and Shelle Sánchez. They will be responding to the work of visual artists Lauren Camp, Becky Holtzman, Stephanie Lerma, Maria Moya, Carol Sanchez and Jennifer Zona.

Be sure to check it out if you can--it sounds like an extraordinary event. Tickets will cost $10 at the door and you can find more information at the websites for 516 Arts and the Tricklock Festival.

Happy new year, and enjoy!
